We are extremely joyful to welcome readers to the lawsuits of the sixth Pacific-Rim convention on Multimedia (PCM). the 1st PCM was once held in Sydney, Australia, in 2000. when you consider that then, it's been hosted effectively by way of Beijing, China, in 2001, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2002, Singapore in 2003, and Tokyo, Japan, in 2004, and at last Jeju, probably the most appealing and excellent islands in Korea. This yr, we accredited 181 papers out of 570 submissions together with typical and certain consultation papers. The recognition price of 32% exhibits our dedication to making sure a really top of the range convention. this could now not be attainable with no the complete aid of the superb Technical Committee and nameless reviewers that supplied well timed and insightful experiences. we might as a result wish to thank this system Committee and all reviewers. this system of this yr displays the present pursuits of the PCM’s. The accredited papers hide a number themes, together with, all elements of multimedia, either technical and inventive views and either theoretical and functional matters. The PCM 2005 software covers educational classes and plenary lectures in addition to standard displays in 3 tracks of oral periods and a poster consultation in one song. we have now attempted to extend the scope of PCM to the creative papers which needn't to be strictly technical.

Listening to Cultures is a well timed exam of the elusive, frequently evocative, and occasionally cacophonous auditory feel. It solutions such exciting questions as: Did humans in Shakespeare's time listen in a different way from us? In what means does know-how impact our ears? Why do humans in Egypt more and more hearken to taped spiritual sermons?

New Panoramic Image Generation 3 3 Camera Calibration Several camera calibration algorithms have been proposed to compute many unknown variables simultaneously [6][7][8]. However, camera parameter estimation with a high degree of freedom could result in instability. We propose a new calibration method for panoramic imaging. By assuming that input images are acquired with a panning camera, we only need to estimate the focal length and lens distortion. We estimate the focal length based on the planar perspective relationship between two consecutive images.

In: Proc. 7th International Conference on Computer Vision. (1999) 510–517 15. : Stratified self-calibration with the modulus constraint. kr Abstract. In this paper, we are proposing a new mechanism for controlling 3D (three dimensional) avatars to create user-designed peculiar motions of avatars in real-time using general interfaces, such as a mouse, a keyboard, or a joystick. The main idea is based on the new way of interactive control that is the combined usage of keyboard and mouse simultaneously.
