This booklet constitutes the refereed complaints of the 4th Hellenic convention on man made Intelligence, SETN 2006, held at Heraklion, Crete, Greece in may possibly 2006.
The forty three revised complete papers and prolonged abstracts of 34 revised brief papers provided including 2 invited contributions have been rigorously reviewed and chosen from a hundred twenty five submissions. The papers tackle any zone of synthetic intelligence; specific fields of curiosity comprise: good judgment programming, knowledge-based platforms, clever info retrieval, laptop studying, neural nets, genetic algorithms, facts mining and data discovery, hybrid clever structures and strategies, clever brokers, multi-agent platforms, clever allotted structures, intelligent/natural interactivity, clever digital environments, making plans, scheduling, and robotics.

This publication constitutes the completely refereed post-workshop lawsuits of the fifth overseas Workshop on task Scheduling techniques for Parallel Processing, JSSPP'99, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in April 1999, as a satelite assembly of IPPS/SPDP'99. The 12 revised complete papers were via an iterated reviewing approach and current the cutting-edge within the zone.
Even though the standard of a system’s software program structure is without doubt one of the severe elements in its total caliber, the structure is just a method to an finish, the top being the applied approach. therefore the final word degree of the standard of the software program structure lies within the applied procedure, in how good it satis?
Listening to Cultures is a well timed exam of the elusive, frequently evocative, and occasionally cacophonous auditory feel. It solutions such interesting questions as: Did humans in Shakespeare's time listen in a different way from us? In what means does expertise impact our ears? Why do humans in Egypt more and more take heed to taped spiritual sermons?

This feature greatly contributes to an IVA’s behavioural believability as, not only its immediate actions, but also its long-term course of action, exhibit an emotion-affected character. 5 Virtual Layer Being the lowest level of an agent, the virtual layer represents the functionality of an IVA’s simulated physical body. This body is not only there for visualization purposes; it plays an important part in the framework’s functionality as all interaction between a world and an agent is carried-out through it.
Knowledge engineering and logic programming approaches have extensively been used in a considerable number of application domains, which range from medicine to game theory . It’s common for various research areas to resort in AI techniques, seeking for intelligent tools to enhance their performance. On the other hand, techniques from other research fields can be embedded into AI applications. Such an approach is reported in the present paper, in which we show how hardware/software co design techniques can be exploited, so as to map AI application on a single FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) board.
An access point is linked to an element of the virtual and/or semantic representation and specifically defines how these are modified when it is accessed. An access point is virtually represented as a subtotal of the item’s virtual representation and can be uni- (a point), two- (a surface) or three-dimensional (a volume). A semantic representation is needed because the architecture does not specify any mechanism for extracting semantic information from sensory data. Therefore, semantic information needs to be provided to an agent’s sensors rather than generated from image or sound data.
